Shutdown Shame

The shutdown of the national memorials in Washington, D.C., is a shameful episode in this nation’s history. This should not be a political question.
The World War II Memorial was built from donations from the warriors’ pockets and from the pockets of family members and schoolchildren in support of those fighting men and women.
The World War II Memorial website (http://www.wwiimemorial.com) gives a list of the donors. Perhaps we need to elect more politicians who have been in the military so that the significance of these memorials is better understood by those in office.
