Auxiliary member celebrates 50 years

Congratulations to Bernice Dworning on her 50 years of American Legion Auxiliary membership.
Dworning is a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 678 in Willowick-Eastlake. She is the unit historian and has served as the chairwoman of the Americanism Committee for many years, ensuring that young ladies from the area experience Buckeye Girls State.
The week provides girls with hands-on experience in government by creating a mock government with the participants taking part by way of holding office.
Dworning also has been president and secretary of the unit during her 50 years of auxiliary service.
“She is always willing to share her knowledge and help in any way she can,” said Maribeth Shankman, president of Unit 678. “I want to thank Bernice for being an excellent example and role model we can only try to emulate as Auxiliary members.”
